vaulytica

A contract linter your coding agent can call.

Vaulytica runs as a local Model Context Protocol server: your agent host starts it as a child process on your own machine, and it answers with the same 1,825 deterministic, cited checks the browser runs. The agent reads a compact report; you spot-check it against the document. There is no hosted endpoint and no account.

What the agent gets

Seven tools

analyze_document, analyze_folder, compare_documents, list_document_types, describe_document_type, explain_rule and export_report.

A report small enough to read

The full JSON report for a six-finding NDA is 293 KB. The server returns the same findings, caveats and hash in about 6 KB, and pages anything past 40,000 characters.

Findings a person can check

Every finding carries its id, its rule, and offsets into the document's text, so you can open the file and look.

The same answer every time

It is a rule engine, not a model. The agent consumes the report; it takes no part in producing it.

Folders it is allowed to read, and no others

The server reads only under the folder it was started in, or the ones you name with --root.

Honest about what it did not read

A scanned PDF, a corrupt file or an unmatched document comes back saying so, not as a short clean report.

Install: a clone, and nothing else

git clone https://github.com/clay-good/vaulytica ~/vaulytica
cd ~/vaulytica && npm ci

Then, for Claude Code, from the folder that holds the contracts:

claude mcp add --scope user vaulytica -- node ~/vaulytica/bin/vaulytica.mjs mcp

Other agent hosts take the same command in their own configuration. It needs Node 22 or newer. Nothing is published to npm.

What "nothing is uploaded" means under an agent. The server opens no network connection, and a file you name by path is read on your machine. But the result goes to your agent and its model provider, and a result quotes excerpts from the document. Ask for excerpts: false to get findings with offsets and no quoted text. Text your agent already holds had reached the model before Vaulytica saw it.

Details are in the reference.

What you get

A Word report

A findings index by severity, then each finding in full: the quoted clause, its position, the rule, and its source.

Comments on your own draft

Your .docx back with each finding attached as a Word comment on the clause it is about.

Deadlines on your calendar

Renewal, notice and cure dates the document states, as an .ics file.

Obligations and fix lists

Who owes what, and what to fix, as spreadsheets you can sort and share.

How it works

  1. Open vaulytica.com — no account, nothing to install.
  2. Drop your PDF or DOCX. It is read inside your browser tab; nothing is uploaded.
  3. Get your report in seconds. The document type is detected and only the checks that belong to it run.

Questions

Is there a hosted Vaulytica MCP server?

No. The server runs on your machine as a child process of your agent host, over stdio. The website is static and receives no documents.

Does my contract stay on my machine?

The server opens no network connection. What it returns goes to your agent and its model provider, including quoted excerpts unless you turn them off.

Does the server use AI?

No. It is a deterministic rule engine. Any summary or advice your agent adds is the agent's, not Vaulytica's.

Is a short report a clean bill?

No. There is no measured accuracy on real contracts and no rule is attorney-signed. Treat a finding as a prompt to read a clause, and a silence as silence.
